Summary
Jane and Lisbon have been sleeping together.

It starts after a case, the way too many dangerous things do: exhaustion, grief, adrenaline with nowhere to go, Jane at Lisbon’s apartment making tea like he has always belonged in the quiet corners of her life. One night becomes another. A stolen kiss in her kitchen becomes his jacket left over her chair, her tea cabinet rearranged by hands too careful to be casual, his body in her bed, her name in his mouth, and both of them pretending they are not building something fragile in the dark.
To Jane, it has never been casual.
To Lisbon, calling it casual is the only way she knows how to survive wanting him. Jane’s grief has teeth. His love comes with ghosts, revenge, vanished rooms, and a wedding ring that still catches the light.
