    Summary

    James staggered a bit, when he went to step closer, finding that his head was still swimming. He reached up to probe at where the pain was radiating most sharply, and tried to cover the resulting wince with a laugh.
    “It’s no wonder you used to let her and the gamekeeper’s daughter put you in dresses.” He teased. “She has quite the arm on her, your sister does.”
    “Don’t.” Sherlock said, voice tight. “Don’t do that, James.”
    “Don’t do what?” He frowned.

    Summary

    “Oh, I thought I’d left you with trouble aplenty.” James lets this hang in the air for a moment, brown eyes glittering with their native mischief. “How’s our Princess?”
    Sherlock rolls his eyes. “Neither a princess nor ‘ours’, I think is the answer to that.”

    After his encounter with Xiao Wei on the balcony, Sherlock has no particular intention of interrogating his own ambivalent feelings. James, on the other hand, has every intention of doing it for him.

    Summary

    “You’re fond of him,” Xiao Wei says as they approach the doors of the Palace of Entertainment.

    “You’ll have to clarify, I am fond of many,” James says as he opens the door for Xiao Wei. “After you, my dear princess,” he bows.

    “It’s different with Sherlock, you cannot fool me James,” Xiao Wei states as she swishes on by, inside into the cooler lobby.

    James’ grin twists a bit, going sharp as his eyes are going dark, eyes of a shark as Xiao Wei needlessly bleeds at a wound that shouldn't be touched. “Yes, yes, it is different with him. I tend to keep it that way.”

    ~~~
    Or maybe Sherlock getting shot in front of James fucks him up more than he thought it would and it becomes everyone's Problem and doesn't entirely change the course of things, but dramatically changes their entire relationship.
    Summary
    "His tongue curled into the crevices of her. The tangy flavor stung his mouth. Sweat and poison, blackberry-sweet."
    Coriolanus can't stand watching Sejanus whispering about rebellion with Billy Taupe. Lucy Gray inspires the perfect plan: he'll poison himself so that Sejanus is forced to care for him.
    Of course there's no way anything could go horribly wrong.
    Summary
    “And one more thing,” Dean Highbottom cuts through Coriolanus’s thoughts. “This year we will be implementing a new monitoring system that will ensure the mentors are able to more closely follow their tributes’ progress in the arena.” His gaze cuts sideways and Coriolanus feels a chill as it settles unerringly on him. “Something a little more personal.”
    What? A nervous buzz travels through the students. What on earth could that mean?
    “Dr. Gaul and I have…collaborated…on a neural networking device that will allow the mentors to be physically aware of their tribute’s wellbeing as you prepare them for the arena. And after.” Highbottom tips his head speculatively. “Tests indicate that this should only be minimally painful.”
    --
    Coryo gets saddled with a psychic link to his tribute, proving once and for all that if you can't produce your own understanding of the inherent worth of other human beings, store bought is fine.
