Summary
Danheng is a quiet, overworked college student who has been juggling assignments, part-time shifts, and his own tendency to withdraw from the world when stressed. In the chaos of midterms, he completely forgets to pay his rent, an oversight that becomes painfully real when Yingxing, his sharp-eyed and notoriously strict landlord, shows up at his door. Yingxing is not patient, and he does not tolerate irresponsibility, especially not from a tenant who always acts aloof and unreadable.

Ren pulls away with a mournful noise and glares at the twisted beings racing down the hallway towards them. He stands up and draws his sword as Dan Heng refastens his pants and tries to stop the way his legs are shaking.
He does look a little more lucid, Dan Heng thinks, blushing furiously as he watches Ren wipe his mouth off with his free hand then lick the mess off of his fingers. Seems like this really does work to calm him down…

He froze nearly at the top when he looked up and found cold teal eyes narrowed at him, pinning him in place. Whether Dan Feng had been tapping into the wards or his senses were just enhanced to an absurd degree right now he didn't know, and it didn't really matter.
"Gege," he said, swallowing.
"You shouldn't be here, Dan Heng," Dan Feng said, his voice tight and with a growl in it that was impossible to ignore.
