"You’re not alone in everything you do. You know that, right?”
In lieu of an answer, Kazuya glances around them. Most of Seido is down by the beach already, out of sight, their voices carrying with the breeze. There’s no one else around. So Kazuya leans in, their shoulders bumping, and brushes his lips against the curve of Kuramochi’s ear.
The skin tastes salty, matching the smell of the ocean that the wind carries up toward them. Kuramochi’s scraggly hair tickles at his nose, and when Kazuya takes a breath he can smell the citrus of Kuramochi’s shampoo. There’s another scent too — something warm and comforting that reminds him of bus rides back to Seido, after an away game.
He presses his lips to the skin a little harder. When he draws back again, Kuramochi’s cheeks are flushed pink.

Instead, she says, "Well, you don't have any proof."
Contrary to popular belief, Maki has always been the one chasing after Mai.
