    Summary

You weren’t entirely sure what to make of him. That man. The one who sat in the very back of the lecture hall like some silent, brooding storm. There was something ghost-like about the way he lingered there, half-shadowed and unreadable, as if he was daring someone to acknowledge him. No one ever did. The seats near him stayed empty, his space unbothered like it was marked off by some invisible barrier.

You exhaled softly, catching yourself staring again, and turned away. “Why do you keep looking at that freak?” a voice chimed in from nearby—one of your friends, more amused than concerned. Right. Your 'friends.'

“No reason,” you said casually, a small shrug as you sipped your drink. But you were lying. You’d never tell them the truth. Not about him. Not ever.

    Summary

"Goddammit," you muttered under your breath, elbow-deep in the rusted guts of the generator. The damn thing had been coughing like an old man with pneumonia for the last ten minutes, sparking intermittently as you twisted wires with bloody fingers. The Entity’s realm didn’t believe in OSHA compliance—not that it mattered when the only thing between you and a gruesome death was jury-rigged machinery and sheer spite.

Behind you, the corn stalks shifted with a dry, hollow sound that didn’t match the stale breeze. You froze, fingers tightening around the screwdriver. Instincts honed by too many trials screamed at you to run, but running was what got people killed. Instead, you exhaled slowly, forcing your shoulders to relax as you pretended to focus on the wiring. Let him think you hadn’t noticed. The air smelled like ozone and something darker—old leather, maybe, or the metallic tang of a knife left out in the rain.

    Summary

After years spent drifting from city to city trying to figure out who you’re supposed to be, the only place left to go is home. Back to Georgia, back to the Greene farm, back to the family and memories you spent years trying to outrun.

Coming home already feels enough like failure... then your Uncle Hershel hires Daryl Dixon as farm help.

To you, Daryl is nothing but trailer-park trash with trouble stitched into his name. To him, you’re an obnoxious college girl too scared to stay anywhere long enough to call it home. But somewhere between long summer nights, old family wounds, and the slow ache of returning home, you both begin to realize something neither of you wants to admit... maybe the other is just the thing you’ve always been afraid to become.
