Their swords would clash against one another, Shane’s deft sword work nearly equal to his own. Not that Ilya would ever admit that. Once, when they were sparring, Shane’s sword had grazed his cheek. It left a shallow cut that bled softly, his blood a bright red against his skin. Shane’s frantic and worried flush was just as bright and Ilya had wanted to lick his heated pink cheeks.

She’s tiny and slim in a way Evie can never achieve. They toss her in the air with ease, with abandon, there’s no worry for the fall. Maybe that’s why he blows up during dinner, as if barbed words could cause the same amount of hurt that ruined his leg. But Bobby doesn’t back down. He levels Buck with a disappointed not quite glare, and Buck is suddenly 12 again. He’s sitting on the Buckley family couch and Phillip Buckley is looming overhead, insisting he still needs a babysitter despite Evan’s protests.

He was meant to feel pain in his abdomen, not his dick. He was supposed to cry because of the discomfort, not because he was disgusted by his body.

Summary
Ilya wakes up disoriented and overly hot. He blinks his eyes open and slowly comes back to the land of the living as he notices that he isn't even tucked under the blanket. Then why is it so damn hot? The answer lies in the omega lying half on top of him.
"Oh shit," Ilya mumbles, realizing that Shane is burning like a furnace. "Hollander? Hollander, can you hear me? Shane?"
The only response he gets is a garbled whimper, half-buried in Ilya's chest.
"Okay, you said heat was bad, let's knot you again, will make the fever go down," Ilya says and slides his hand between Shane's thighs to his wet hole. He doesn't get much further before Shane clamps his legs shut, closing his eyes with a pained expression.
"What is happening?" Ilya asks into the room as Shane starts sobbing and writhing on the bed._________________
When Shane has to get off his suppressants for medical reasons, he is advised to spend his next heat with an alpha, otherwise the strain on his body might leave permanent damage. When he asks Rozanov, he tries to explain the severity of his heats, but the alpha thinks he is overreacting, expecting a week of easy heat-sex. He should have believed the omega when he warned him.
