“Xiao?”
“Aether, the-“ Xiao gulped. His shoulders tensed, and his hands latched onto their baby egg more harshly. “The egg- it’s shaking from the inside. Aether, I think-“
A small crack appeared on the top of the egg’s shell.
In a small corner of Aether’s brain, some math started to take place.
Three months since that time plus four months and then a week, three weeks, and another month. That’s nine months.
"Huh."
There's a few steps in Adepti reproduction. The first, is the pregnancy phase. The second is the incubation phase. The third and last one if the hatching of the egg. And Aether completely forgot that they are in the last step.

There were far more ingredients than needed for simple Almond Tofu, which piqued Xiao's interest. As noninvasively as he could without using full stealth, he approached the cooking area. Aether looked over at him, a small chuckle leaving him as he observed Xiao. "Don't worry, I am not expecting you to eat anything you do not want to. I just thought I'd give you a few options. Especially the macarons! Navia from Fontaine taught me how to make them. They'll be almond flavored, so I thought you might enjoy them."
Xiao was...flattered. No one had ever paid much heed to his dietary tastes, opting to just dub him as a picky eater. Which, truly, wasn't unfair. Xiao didn't find joy in cooking or eating extravagant things. It wasted time he could spend defending Liyue or searching for lost artifacts left behind by his friends. He had no need for such efforts, so they were easy to cut out. Yet, having Aether be so thoughtful in his actions had him practically drooling for the food being prepared in front of him.
