Summary
The journey to Erid is long and hard, as Rocky and Grace knew it would be. Grace almost doesn't make it, and wakes up on Erid feeling healthier than he ever has, with Rocky there... along with a glowing stranger, a frog cat, and a disembodied computer voice. Did he die? Is this a death hallucination? No, Rocky just adopted new friends while Grace was unconscious.

Another planet has noticed that 40 Eridani is brightening again, and its inhabitants have showed up to say hello... and to make a very strange offer: each of Erid’s representatives may make a wish. And what Grace and Rocky both want most, but think they can never have, is to better understand the strange way in which the other sees the world.
