Summary
Jiyan couldn’t focus. He found himself staring downward, a deep look of concentration furrowing his brows. The space suddenly felt warmer than it did before - then what it was becoming when Yao was previously leant against him. He wondered if he drank too much. Perhaps he was feeling sick and that was why he felt so flushed.
“Jiyan?”
Blinking, Jiyan refocused, eyes locking with concerned hazel. Yao was leant over him, gaze intent as he took in his flushed complexion.
“I think I drank too much,” he laughed, waving his boyfriend away as he cleared his throat. Why wouldn’t the flush go away.
Or: Jiyan is in deep denial that he kinda likes the fact one of his boyfriends can manhandle him

Summary
“Why are you here?” Yao muttered. “Weren’t you heading home to start dinner?”
Mortefi was staring down at him, brows furrowed the slightest bit inward. “It’s twenty hundred,” he replied, point blank.
Yao could only describe the feeling that overtook him as potent and exponential dread. Jerking back toward his pad, which somehow ended up shuffled underneath some paperwork, he tapped the screen. His device flashed 20:10 at him, uncaring of his rising distress.
Or: Yao almost misses his Valentine’s date with his boyfriends

Summary
“It almost feels like it’s fate then. Look,” Jiyan muttered, his hand gesturing upward. Tilting his head back Mortefi cursed.
Above them was the bane of his existence. All through the winter season Xiangli Yao had snuck a plethora of the twigs around the Academy, claiming it was for morale as more and more Yule decorations went up. The fusion user had tore down any near his office, refusing to give into Yao’s mistletoe mischief.
Or: Mortefi hates the tradition of mistletoe, but maybe Jiyan can change his mind

Summary
Mortefi wouldn’t consider himself an obtuse man. For the vast majority, he could pick between the lines of inconsequential remarks, getting to the root of the conversation before his temper flared from wasted breath.
Though, there was one person that he had continuous struggles with, especially when it pretained to their inability to be candid and ask for assistance.
Sometimes Mortefi wondered why Yao even bothered trying to play aloof about his condition. It wasn’t something he could control. Just as Mortefi himself couldn’t control the fact that they had a bond.
He was, without any conscious choice, forever connected to Xiangli Yao and his vampiric nature.
Or: Mortefi has a terrible week and one half of his supernatural triad causes more problems

Summary
It was strange.
From a statistical stand point, there was nothing wrong with the hotel he was staying at. The service was excellent, the staff accommodating, and the food exquisite. He couldn’t even complain about the bathroom.
Yet, Yao couldn’t say he was satisfied.
With a heavy sigh he rolled over for the umpteenth time, turning to face the ceiling, the bed swallowing up his lone body. Most would find that luxurious, but to him it just outlined what he was lacking on either side of himself.
Or: Yao contemplates if giving a mid-night hologram call makes him the needy boyfriend

Summary
“Stranger?” he whispered, eyes wide and mouth gaping in awe.
The shape twitches, what Hob assumes is the mass of his tail giving one firm stroke as if in reply. The hairs on the back of Hob’s neck stand as goosebumps break across his flesh, eyes locking on two white orbs that appear around where a face should be. Hob felt himself tipping forward unconsciously, his feet leaving the ground as he dangled more over the ledge, unable to pull his gaze away from the haunting figure beneath. It was calling to him, those reflective eyes, bright as stars. If only he could stretch himself a little farther, maybe he could reach his stranger finally.
Or: Hob's class is at the zoo, where a pretty mer-creature catches his eye

Summary
Jerking from his hold Morpheus sat up, hair ruffled and eyes red rimmed. “There is nothing to refuse as it will not be given.”
Sighing Hob pinched his nose, trying to remember that Morpheus, barely a year and a half ago, was an emotionally stunted anthropomorphic personification. He had to remember to give him leeway, as he was still learning what it meant to be human. “Are you going to tell Daniel that?” Hob shot back in frustration. Sometimes though the kiddy gloves had to come off.

Summary
Hob would deny that he lunged across the table to smash their lips together roughly, knocking wine and beer to the floor in a loud crash, liquid soaking their shoes. He would plead the fifth, or whatever he had to, amongst the gentle ribbing of his staff as the story was told over and over again. He would absolutely be ignoring Morpheus’s smug grin whenever it came up, as he wasn’t liable for how it drove him crazy, forcing his boyfriend’s lips against his in a searing kiss every time. He deserved it, is all Hob’s saying.
Or: retired!Morpheus and Hob getting ready to celebrate their two year dating anniversary, feat. Hob's private musings on ice cream

Summary
Morpheus never liked sitting at The New Inn by himself. Like most public spaces it was needlessly loud. Jarring to his senses in a way most others never had to contend with. He used to wonder if he was normal if he would had enjoyed such establishments more, if he would had been into ‘average’ people things. Morpheus knew it was futile to ponder such thoughts. They only left him feeling a deep sense of inadequacy.

Summary
“This wasn’t at all how we planned,” Hob muttered lowly as they made their way down.
“It does not matter where we speak to him. Just as long as we do,” Morpheus countered gently. “We must properly explain ourselves, as our previous overtures were ineffective.”
“What are we going to do though,” Hob whispered, voice catching as Daniel stepped out of his office, attention on the keys in his hand.“If he does not even want our friendship?”
Or: how to fix a misunderstanding, as told by Hob Gadling

Summary
It was odd. How the cat kept showing up. There were no patterns to it slinking on by, demanding to be let in at all hours of the day. Generally, Hob didn’t interact with the strays that hung about. Morpheus, on the other hand, was obsessed with the cat. He had a soft spot for all the strays, but there was something about the fluffy white beast that he seemed particularly fond of.
Or: how retired!Morpheus adopts a cat
