Summary
“Val, do it.” She recognizes the popping static of ghost speak. Danny raises his head and the pain in his eyes is gone, replaced with grim, angry determination.
She opens her mouth to respond, but he stops her.
“Don’t reply, just shoot me. If you do it, you’re free.”
He couldn’t survive this. Not unless there's something major he isn’t telling her.
And then she remembers there is.

Valerie and Danny are kidnapped by the GIW due to their anomalous ectoplasmic radiation readings. In the lab, they're put trough testing to determine whether or not they still count as human. Danny struggles with the cost of keeping his secrets to avoid hurting Valerie, while Valerie grapples with the real ramifications of her suit’s technology and how ghostly she's becoming. Together they must both face their truths if they want to get out alive.

Amazing fic. 10/10
I love how the tension escalates throughout the fic and the culmination is satisfying.Even with the reveal, he keeps Phantom as a secret which isn't something that happens often in fics.
I would've liked to see the perspective of other characters, specially regarding the reveal or the forensic team suffering the consequences, but it's not necessary as it wouldn't necessarily expand the story or world building. The fic is amazing as is.
I'm definitely going to re-read it multiple times.
