Summary
Robby sighed, and shook his head, hands scrubbing at his beard. “A wiser man would say that we’re using casual intimacy to hide from the emotional turmoil we should be working out in therapy,” Robby called out as Jack walked out the door.
The other man barked out a laugh. "Yeah, and when you find him, tell him I said hi."
(Or: Robby can't sleep, Jack decides to help. It goes exactly as well as you'd expect.)

Summary
“Oh. Jack. Thought you were my son.” Robby crossed the room and dropped into the armchair, legs sprawling open without care.
Jack swallowed. His gaze drifted, uninvited, down the man’s body. The shirt clinging to his chest and stomach, creasing at his waist, the leather belt catching the light. A hint of chest hair peeked from the open collar.
“How’s school?” Robby asked.
Jack looked away, avoiding his eyes. The movie played on, unnoticed.
“It’s alright. Going fine.”

“Ready?” Robby asks.
“Where are we going?” Dennis asks as he moves to follow, dreading all the possible answers.
“Home,” he says, and Dennis nearly trips on air, righting himself against the table at the last second.

Summary
No, I don’t want to fall in love. This world is only gonna break your heart.
Jack Abbot swore off love after his wife died. Casual is safer, it doesn’t leave a mark. But when a sense of rivalry with Robby turns into an unshakable fixation on his overlooked resident, Jack sets out to win him from Robby.
He doesn’t count on Dennis running a game of his own.
Dennis Whitaker swore off love when he first learned that falling for someone means giving them the chance to break you first. When Trinity notices Jack Abbot paying close attention to her roommate, Dennis and Trin hatch a plan: play the innocent and ask Abbot to help him “figure out his sexuality.”
What starts as two careful lies snowballs into something else entirely.
Jack thinks he’s just helping Dennis get ready for somebody else. Dennis thinks he’s protected as long as nobody finds out the truth. Both of them are wrong, and both of them know it.
What a wicked game to play.

Summary
The stranger from the stairwell stops beside a bank of linen cabinets and folds his arms loosely across his chest.
No, not a stairwell stranger, Dennis reminds himself. His attending.
He opens his mouth. “Dr. Robby—”
“You are a fourth-year medical student on rotation in my department,” Dr. Robby cuts off, “and what happened in the stairwell this morning does not change that.”
Dennis swallows.Dennis Whitaker didn't need fate to tell him he was meant to be a doctor. He just really wasn't expecting his new attending on his very last rotation of medical school to say the words inked around his bicep.
