The new town and new job aren't glamorous, but at least he can schedule himself around the moon. And besides, he's got time to pursue his racing hobby, and there's a surprising number of cute customers to ogle while he works. Though his favorite has to be that silver fox that always orders the cappuccino and sits in the corner, sometimes with this one cop. He wonders if they’re really just friends or if they’re boyfriends. Probably not, since the guy doesn't seem very friendly even to the cop.

It’s not like Mike wanted to be put into witness protection.
Just because he’d been in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnessed an apparent assassination attempt on the district attorney of New York didn’t mean his life was at risk, too. Just because he’d been called to testify at the trial a month later didn’t mean the sniper’s buddies would target him, too.
Except then they did, and then he was, indeed, almost collateral damage.
