Summary
Lucy is angry. No she was furious. She couldn't sleep, she couldn't breathe and to top it all off she feels like Tim abandoned her by letting Nyla take over her training. When Tim seeks her out finally, Lucy manages to open up. Not knowing how to help her, he asks her and ther answer surprises him.
Lucy wants to confront her biggest fear: Suffocating.
And suddenly, everything seems changed between them, and a gesture that should be threatening becomes one of comfort.

Lucy takes a step back, then pauses. “Do you ever leave before dark?”
His eyes lift to hers, sharp and unreadable. “Usually not.”
“Why not?”
He shrugs. “Fewer interruptions.”
“Right.” She gives a small laugh. “You know, I’m starting to think my joke during the interview wasn’t such a joke. Maybe you are a vampire.”
Tim doesn’t laugh.
For a second, she thinks he didn’t hear. But he had; his eyes flicker, quick, like a warning light.
“I mean,” she adds hastily, “you never eat, you never go outside, you don’t like sunlight—it’s kinda a pattern.”
He holds her gaze for a moment longer, then says simply, “Good night, Lucy.”
She feels heat climb up her neck. “Good night.”
