Summary

Before you is a map of the Nine, over which Asgard has ruled since Auðumbla licked Búri from the salt and rime of Ginnungagap. The Norns did not bestow such power upon our people lightly, and each would-be king of Asgard must prove himself worthy.
“The heir is to complete nine tasks, one for each of the Nine Realms, and in doing so prove his worth.” Odin took the parchment in hand, turning it between his fingers for a moment before he continued. “Before I present you with your tasks, know this: the konungsskapari is not to be undertaken lightly. The quest is not designed to bring glory; rather, it is to shape the heir into the king both Asgard and the Nine are in need of. Once you leave, there is to be no turning back. You may move freely between the other realms, but you will not be granted passage back to Asgard until it is time for the final task.”
Bölþorn’s beard, Loki cursed to himself. I hope that rule doesn’t apply to tagalongs–

Summary
The boy stands with his back straight and his face stern, looking very much like a little adult. His eyes roam the store, taking in the clothes and fabrics on display, ponytail swaying with the turn of his head. His own clothes are neat and clean and not at all wrinkled the way Shen Yuan’s is, and Shen Yuan can’t help but stare at him in wonder from behind his mother’s robes.
