Summary
You know that song "It Goes Like This?" by Thomas Rhett? I couldn't stop thinking about a Sterek version of it, so I wrote it down. (In this AU Thomas Rhett doesn't exist because Derek is the one who writes that song in his head the moment he sees Stiles.) It's gross and cute and features an emotionally mature Derek who can ARTICULATE his feelings bc I like to project.

Stiles tries to make Derek jealous, and fails miserably. But not in the way you think.
“I came here,” he continues to slur angrily, jabbing a finger in Derek’s general direction, “to make you jealous fuckface, but I can’t even do that. Ugh.” He has to pause to drown himself briefly in his drink. It’s an alarming shade of bright pink, and Derek is eyeing it with something akin to suspicion. “You were supposed to grovel at my feet! It’s all your fault.”

They laid there in silence for a few minutes, caught in the delicate, light slumber that only a winter’s early morning and a warm bed could bring. A cardinal sang outside, greeting the rays of sun that began to make the frost on the window panes gleam.

Summary
It’s fine, Viktor reminds himself as Jayce walks out the door, fresh-picked flowers in hand as he heads to his date. Each is arranged for him far in advance, making Jayce sullen the entire day of, pouting while doing chores.
This is good for him, Viktor repeats mentally when he sees the glint of an engagement ring on Jayce’s hand. It’s tasteful, and Viktor politely compliments the ring. Jayce doesn’t respond.
This is how it is supposed to be, Viktor internally yells as he sees the wedding date circled on the monthly calendar.

“Is…there anything else I can help you with, Viktor?” Jayce almost sounds out of breath, voice rumbling deliciously low and rough as it cuts through the silence. “I’ll do it. I said I would. Anything for you.”
The image of Jayce on his knees in front of him, begging for Viktor to direct him, willing to actually do anything he asked, was starting to cloud Viktor’s judgement. A rising swirl of arousal curled into his stomach. Viktor clears his throat and reaches for his cane, deliberately brushing his fingers across Jayce’s strong grip before taking it from him.
“Anything,” he repeats in a curious tone, bringing his cane up to feign his own inspection. Jayce adjusts his knees but doesn’t leave his position on the ground. “Yes, you did mention that, didn’t you?”
Viktor’s experiment, it seems, was a success. But in their lab, there had never been such a thing as “too much science.”
