Not that she didn’t want him there, no, she did, she realized somewhat begrudgingly, but she couldn’t take the thought of Celebrían having to face even more comments about Galadriel’s status as single mother at school. Any more comments than her daughter already did, at least. Galadriel could only imagine how much worse the comments would get if she brought Halbrand to the play, because everyone else around them would assume it was a date, because it wouldn’t be a date but because maybe Galadriel wanted it to be one, because everyone in Armenelos seemed to know that Halbrand was her regular, even if he wasn’t hers in any way that truly mattered.
Halbrand is a trucker, Galadriel is a waitress at his favorite diner.
