And Sam almost stops talking. Because there seems to be actual anger in Bucky’s expression now, barely concealed rage sparking in his eyes. It’s dangerous; in fact, it’s pretty terrifying. Because Bucky doesn’t get angry. He gets irritated, sure, gets upset enough to yell sometimes, but never really, truly, angry.
Sam almost stops. But he doesn’t.

And do you know what else I realized?” Bucky continues as if Sam hadn’t even spoken, “I really miss Steve.” And he slumps back down onto the couch without another word, picking up a half empty bottle and taking a long drink from it. And Sam finds for a moment, that he’s weighed down where he stands, unable to move.
Because yeah, he misses Steve too.
They’d both lost a best friend. Guess they had something in common after all.

Maybe Steve’s watching them from up there, he thinks. If he is, he’s definitely laughing his ass off right now.
