Accepted all the interview requests she got. Laughed at that loserpants Lance to whoever would listen. Her Pokégear said she'd texted him at three in the morning and called him, well, Loserpants. After her third pink drink.
And then Morty called.
Morty never called.
Pretty girls can pout and cry and get away with it every time. That's life for Whitney—before the League starts throwing around words like "unsportsmanlike conduct" and handing out suspensions. But she'll show Lance. She'll have the best week off anyone's ever had. Then Morty gives her a glimpse into what could be—and it's not at all pretty.

Struggling to accept that this mere farmer can wed a deity while he can not, he sequesters himself both emotionally and physically from the rest of Mineral Town, including Trent. Only through an epiphany brought about by divine intervention (and a handful of mushrooms) does Carter realize being a righteous man does not mean he must also be a lonely one.

“But if you fight me like this, it’s not fair. You have to wait until I get stronger. Be my guard until then, and I’ll duel you, warrior to warrior.”
Thorfinn’s gaze is unflinching. Canute reaches behind him and pulls the dagger from the folds of his fur-lined cloak. The blade is a part of Thorfinn, like the crown is a part of Canute, now. He hands it over, hilt first.
“Or, you can kill me today. Right now, right here.”
