“How long?” Jing Yuan asked, reaching across the table to pry one of Ren’s hands free from his self-hug.
Their fingers tangled together as Ren looked down, analyzing the grain of the wood. “The shot I take makes them sparse as it is but…” he looked up at Jing Yuan and murmured, “It’s been about four months.”
“Four…” Jing Yuan said softly.
Just as Ren was about to consider this whole thing a mistake, he felt the fingers laced between his own squeeze reassuringly. When Ren looked up, he saw a broad smile on Jing Yuan’s face. “We’re going to be parents?” He asked in awe, beaming at Ren with genuine wonder. Dropping the test, he quickly snatched Ren’s other hand and pulled it close. “I’m going to be a dad?”
