Earlier, in the locker room, Ilya had been about to take Alexei’s call when he saw Shane’s first text come in. Good game.
It was easier to watch those three dots appear and disappear—Shane typing, deleting, typing again, deleting again, wanting but not wanting to admit to the wanting, needing Ilya to coax the wanting out of him—than to take Alexei’s call.
Easier, and a lot more fun.
But now Ilya’s phone is buzzing again.
Alexei has never been this persistent before. It can’t mean anything good.
