They’re gonna- they’re gonna beat me and- and-“ Juan’s voice broke as he ranted, his speech quickly becoming fast and shaky. Two firmly placed hands on his shoulder brought him to silence as he met Foolish’s eyes.

    “Breathe. It’s not the exact same, cause I’m here now! I’m gonna do my very best to ensure you’re not hurt, okay? I’ll take the brunt of it, don’t even worry.”

    Foolish has had a rough couple days. Weeks. Months. Call it a rough life. Everyone he knows has either been killed or kidnapped by the Federation and, even if they're returned, they're not the same. And the North is collapsing. So, maybe, he went back to smoking.

    Of course, his coworker-maybe-friend had to interrupt him this time. But, maybe, this human distraction is what he needed to keep from suffocating under his own thoughts.
