Steve’s apartment was a sad excuse for an apartment, really.
He didn’t have a lot of things, only really had whatever SHIELD had kept of his locker from the 40’s. He had his suit and a few outfits, and his dog tags and only two sets of kitchen utensils and dishware. Tape for his hands, a duffel bag. Peggy’s picture. Bucky’s.
His apartment was not full, it was clean in an empty way. Never permanent, not a permanent spot for rest. He didn’t rest much in it, only rested when his wrists were tired despite the serum and his head couldn’t stop pounding - something that he was sure had nothing to do with how he turned memories back and forth over and over, until most times he couldn’t breathe.
When he woke up to his apartment that Wednesday morning, he couldn’t get up.
