His thoughts feel slow and syrupy in the heat, but as Varka takes Prune into the shallow parts of the water, the girl shrieking with delight at the sensation of waves lapping at her chubby legs, Flins watches with a smile.
The little life they used to dream about is now out in the world and discovering its wonders. Her laugh when Varka dangles her over the water, her delighted shrieks when sand gets stuck in her toes, the look of wonder on her face as she spots fishes, all making up parts of this new life together, no longer as lovers, but as a family.

Summary
With fewer internal organs taking up space inside his body, it takes longer than expected for a baby bump to show, and Flins grows increasingly miffed as more days pass without one. He’d hoped to tell their friends around the time it became visible, but the bump is auspiciously missing.
For the first time in a long, long while, Flins laments his own nature.
“If you weren’t a succubus, there wouldn’t even be a baby”, Varka tries to comfort him, but while his physical symptoms are few, his emotions are in constant uproar, and such sound logic does little to deter him.

Flins looks at him, curious. "Would you like to?"
"What, you mean adopt?" Varka asks, surprised by how seriously Flins is considering it. "I mean, if we get the chance, I wouldn't say no."
"What about biological ones?"
At first, Varka thinks it's a joke, but Flins looks way too genuine. He chuckles awkwardly, confused.
"Uh, am I missing something here?"

“It’s concerning that monsters would come so close to the city…” Varka mutters, inspecting the cart. “Especially this close to Windblume, when so many people are on the road.”
“I do not believe hilichurls celebrate the holiday”, Flins remarks, standing a few feet behind Varka. His eyes are on the surrounding environment rather than the cart. “They must be nearby. Stay here, I’ll handle them.”

Summary
They’re in the city two days before the expedition returns, and though they aren’t meant for his ears, Varka can’t help but overhear conversations pertaining to some “foreign royalty who was blessed by the Anemo archon”.
Depending on who’s talking, this “foreign royalty” is sometimes a noble, sometimes a prince or princess, and the descriptions of what they look like differ wildly. Everyone agrees that it’s a beautiful person, but there is very little consensus on what that looks like. Varka’s favorite has to be the version where he’s got shimmering skin and eyes of gold.
