“It’s too late to call someone to pick us up,” Eirika says. The last streaks of sunset highlight the edge of the horizon in brilliant oranges and pinks, but the rest of the sky is a deep blue, the clouds lined in silver from the stars and the crescent moon.
“I saw a motel earlier,” Seth says, turning the car back on and backing out of the parking spot in front of the shop. “I’m sorry, Eirika, I don’t think there’s another option.”
