Summary
Four times Will Smith acts like Macklin Celebrini's boyfriend + one time he actually is.
Macklin rubs the sleep from his eyes and is immediately hit with the feeling that he took another elbow to the face. His first coherent thought is that, yeah, his face still hurts. His second thought is that his pillow is weirdly warm. And also breathing. His third thought is, oh.
"You're here," he mumbles into what turns out to be the place between Will's shoulder and neck. "You're still here."
Will's breath hitches as he stirs awake at the sound and feeling of Mack speaking. "Yeah, I'm here." He squeezes his arms a little tighter around the boy, careful not to jostle his position too much. "Where else would I be, superstar?"
Or Macklin gets his wisdom teeth removed and is still very much Yaplin Celebrini under the influence of pain medication. What could possibly go wrong with that?

And Mack is exceptionally aware that Will lets him get away with a lot. Which is just... he probably should talk to a therapist about how much he loves those ‘Mack walks Will like a dog, and Will lets him’ compilations on TikTok, huh?
So for his best friend to fight back on… *checks notes*... pineapple on pizza, something Mack ONLY suggested because his already prickly mood was worsened by Will needlessly mentioning his other friend (ew) out of the blue?
It makes Mack all the more determined to get his way.
... he just wishes Will would have mentioned his severe allergy to pineapple BEFORE the ambulance ride to the hospital.
