Summary
Shane exits out of the obituary his mother had sent and makes a mental note to set up a generous donation to both charities. It's not much, but it's the least he can do. He should be getting ready for their flight later this afternoon, he knows, and yet he can't seem to make himself do it. He takes his glasses off and rubs at his burning eyes. Fuck, he's tired.
The front door opens and he listens to the usual noises of Ilya coming home. The keys clatter into the bowl on the entryway table. Boots scuff on the mat and then thump-thump as they're kicked off. He is humming some song from the radio under his breath. Shane doesn't know the name of it. He only knows it in the low rumble of Ilya's voice.
He wonders how long it will take for Lorraine to stop waiting for Dan to open the door at the end of the day. He's not sure he ever would.

An old family friend dies, and Shane has a crisis of mortality.
