Aki is pretty sure he’s straight.
It’s not something he dwells on, he never had any reasons to think otherwise about it either. He never viewed it as a belief or a decision. For Aki, him being straight is just one of those world facts that has always existed; water boiling when it reaches 100°C? Fact. the human body containing approximately 60% water? Fact. Aki harboring an attraction towards girls? Another fact!
Aki knows himself pretty well and especially what he wants. He’s never doubted about what he’s into… atleast, he hadn’t — not until Angel becomes his roommate, taking up space in the apartment the same way he’s casually taking up space in Aki’s head. Facts aren’t supposed to change; water still boils at 100°C and the human body still contains 60% of water. But lately, Aki catches his chest doing something stupid when Angel is too close, the line “I like girls” doesn’t ring normally like before, and now he’s not so sure about anything anymore.

Summary
Making a bet against Denji and Power, Aki tries to prove that he isn't just some little weakling by professing his love to the love of his life. He thought it would be easy considering all he had to do was to set a romantic vibe and say three worlds "I love you" until he actually tried confessing which horribly failed. It's not that Angel rejected him or anything, it's just that god keeps messing with Aki. But Aki isn't the type to give up.
