    Summary

A retelling of the story in which Wei Ying is Wen RuoHan's grandson.
    WangXian; obviously.
    Not Jiang Clan friendly.
Jin Guangshan is his own warning.
Wen RuoHan is not a good person but he is a great grandfather. And he is definitely not the worst among the clan leaders. Basically redemption for all the Wens. Except Wen Chao. Wen Chao is rotten to the core.

    Summary

The Cultivation World was no stranger to gossip.

From the minor clans to the major clans, there was an implicit belief that they were superior to ordinary people, even those who ran the country from the Imperial City; some cultivators could attain immortality and become gods; they could fly on swords, subdue living creatures with music, and survive for long periods without food through meditation.

But they were still human. And it was human nature to prosper by meddling in other people’s affairs.

This gossip in particular had the potential to spread and ignite like a broken lantern thrown into a pool of oil: the lucky ones had witnessed the highlights live, the others would complain for a long time that they had missed such a spectacle.

And to think that it all started with a simple hair ribbon.

    ~

When Wei Ying is twelve years old, the Jiang Clan hold a Discussion Conference at Lotus Pier. All the clans attend, including the Wens. All goes well until Wen RuoHan notices the red ribbon in Wei Ying's hair.

    Summary

Before the girl stood the imposing structure known as “The Machine,” which was rumored to revolutionize the agricultural world. There were also whispers that its inventor couldn’t really be the Chief Cultivator’s grandson, a boy of only thirteen; the boldest of them clearly claimed that Wen RuoHan had credited him with someone else’s merits because he was the worst of indulgent grandparents.

Mei Ling had also believed this. However, now that she was looking at the famous Wei Wuxian with her own eyes, she began to reconsider that accusation.

Simply put: Wei Ying's inventive genius when he has a very wealthy and very supportive family behind him.

    Summary

Lan Wangji knows the legend like he knows every other legend of every god, but he's not thinking about it the day he catches a youth in black robes sneaking into a discussion conference in the unclean realm.

No, in that moment all he's really thinking about is a crimson ribbon and a flow of long black hair, soft fabric caressing the delicate lines of a collar bone, a pair of gray eyes, and a smile and a laugh that seem to break his world forever.

    'Beautiful' he thinks.

    And 'infuriating' he thinks.

'What are you doing here?" He asks

"Who me?" The boy grins, laughing and causal, seeming to care nothing for the sword tip pressing against his throat. "I'm here for the discussion conference of course."

"You were spying in the rafters."

    Summary

All the time they were making their way back to Central, it was like floating on some kind of cloud. Neither he nor Al seemed able to believe it. In between the euphoria of getting Al back, it would hit Ed around the head like a blow. It was over. The one thing that had driven him for years was finally gone. Maybe he should have been elated, but dread had a way of worming into any situation. It curled up in the pit of his gut, gnawing at him.

Because the truth was, he didn't know who he was without the hunt for the Stone: his own crusade to undo the wrongs of his past. With that gone, he was not sure how much of himself was left.
