Scarifies had to be made, it was part of being a priestess, part of being devoted to the Earth Mother, but most of all part of being human. And though every sacrifice affected you in its own unique way, losses hurt just as much. To lose or to sacrifice, well, they didn't seem so different to you. But now, now you would much rather sacrifice than lose that what is important to you. Because at least when you sacrificed, you had control over what it was.

Summary
When Lyon is summoned into Askr, he wonders if he's made a mistake in arriving in a place so incredibly bright. In his heart, shriveled and blackened by the influence of the Demon King and of the many, tragic ordeals he caused, it was like he was consistently drowning in warmth, warmth he hadn't felt in what might as well have been eons. He didn't deserve this, and he especially didn't deserve this second chance at living.
His Summoner, Zephyr, says otherwise.

Breidablik ties a Hero's soul to the Summoner's. Essentially, the Summoner can revive Heroes over and over again, as long as they live; an army of revivable soldiers might sound like a tactician's dream in theory, but it's not quite that way in practice. To die and to watch loved ones die; it's not so easy to cope with, no matter how many times it happens.
