Summary
Before he’s locked and loaded in the ambulance, Renjun cranes his neck over his shoulder. He looks past the paramedics’ broad shoulders, past the marina, past the boats, and out into the open sea. Its surface glitters invitingly, the current sending tiny, rhythmic waves crashing into the sides of the boats. It looks serene; peaceful.
But Renjun knows better than that.
There’s something in the water, and he’s going to find out what it is.
(Or: Yangyang is a merman. Renjun is a human who can't swim. In the course of one sweltering, magical summer, they discover that maybe their worlds ‒ and their hearts ‒ aren't so different after all.)

Summary
“I,” Yangyang proudly proclaims with all the grandeur of a town crier announcing the arrival of royalty. “Am a baku.”
Renjun’s brow furrows. Huh?
"A bak-what?"
"A baku," Yangyang corrects. “Meng mo. Otherwise known as a dream eater. An ancient, mythological creature that’s been a friend to children and nightmare sufferers since the dawn of time."
Renjun takes the opportunity to scan him up and down. Yangyang's hair is an absolute mess, almost like he spent the night outdoors sleeping on Renjun's doorstep, which Renjun supposes he did. He's dressed in baggy, tie-dyed jeans today, paired with a bleached denim jacket, and is wearing a ratty university-brand hoodie underneath it. There's orange potato chip dust down his front.
"Right," Renjun deadpans.
(or: Desperate to vanquish his nightmares, Renjun turns to a self-professed sleep specialist for help. What he ends up finding is his literal dream boy, and so much more.)

Summary
“It’s, um,” Renjun says after about thirty million years of silence. “I’m just concerned about the ‒ you know ‒ the, um, the person I would be working with.”
Kun blinks. “You mean Yangyang?”
Yes, of fucking course, Yangyang.
“Um,” Renjun says, because he can’t say that. “Yes.”
“What about him?”
“He’s just so… And I’m so…”
Basically, what Renjun wants to say is this: Yangyang plays loud hip-hop garbage noise for unemployed, unhinged people and makes crass, inappropriate jokes on public radio while I play actual music for people who actually have jobs and I actually comply with the region’s broadcasting standards.
Except he can’t say that or he’ll get fired. So.
𑁋
Renjun can't think of anyone less like him than Yangyang. When they're thrown together to co-host a radio show, though, he must look past their differences, and, in the course of doing so, begins to see Yangyang in a brand new light.
