Summary
so y’all remember my season 2 fix-it series? yeah, this is like that but angrier
the gist: i hated season 7 on many levels, for many reasons, so i’m changing it. because i can.
no but actually, pretty much all of s7 bothered me in some way somehow so here i am, shoving my anger into fix-it fics once again. the main plot is salvageable, so i probably won’t mess with that, but the subplots were universally tragic so those are getting a makeover. these aren’t gonna be written in chronological order or anything (i go where the motivation is, not the logic) but they’ll be ordered chronically. there’ll be some level of continuity between these fics (if something in a later fic comes directly from one earlier in the series, i’ll try to post them in the right order but no promises) so i suggest reading in order, at least once there’s a few fics up
come scream at me about season 7 please i’m very upset
(also, i don’t know how long this series is gonna take me to write. right now i’m dealing motivation problems and stress problems and mental health problems and just. problems lol. so sorry if there’s really long pauses between uploads, i’m Trying My Best)

I mean-” He sweeps his arm out towards the fields with a gesture of overexaggerated pride. “I’m a landowner in my twenties! In this economy! I’m living it up down here.”

Lance would feel that familiar heat licking at his cheeks, his neck, and he’d go back to paying attention to the speaker, entirely aware of Keith’s eyes tracing his face, his posture.

Lance wanted to do his best to replace the red paladin, and among his duties was to act as Shiro's right-hand man.
And the right-hand man's duties were to advise the leader, and Lance was convinced that having Lotor on board was a bad idea.
Too bad for him that Shiro didn't want a right-hand man. He wanted a punching bag.
(Where the clone's threats against Lance were much more physical and the paladin must learn to deal with the consequences.)

Shiro smiled, a warm and secret smile, reserved for only two people (and no, Lance wasn't creepy, but it was easy to see how close Shiro was to Keith and Pidge, and how little with the others), "I know it wasn't easy for you. You have managed to control your temper very well."
"Control? I may have killed him in my head at least a dozen times. Does it seem to you that I control my temper?"
Lance's heart sank as he heard him say it, and Shiro sighed, "We're lucky you didn't give in to your violent instincts. We don't have time to look for another blue paladin."
"As if it could be difficult to find a replacement. You've heard Allura, the Blue Lion is the friendlier one. We could take a random guy from the space mall and he would pilot it even better!"
(Just when Lance has decided to confess his feelings to Keith, he overhears a conversation between the red paladin and Shiro. But it's okay, he can pretend nothing happened! Too bad they have to go on missions together, and Keith is starting to suspect something.)
