“What the fuck, Ilya? What is that supposed to mean?” Shane said, his own voice cracking around the words.
Ilya laughed quietly, pinching the bridge of his nose as he sniffled, looking back at Shane.
“You stood in front of everyone tonight and talked about choosing someone every day. You talked about Hayden, you talked about Jackie, you talked about how obvious they are. How they don’t have to pretend.”
Shane didn’t answer. His heart hammered in his chest with each word that left Ilya’s mouth as he watched while his face went pale.
“You know what I was doing while you were giving that speech?” Ilya asked.
The room stayed silent.
“I was wondering if anyone else in that room would've believed you were talking about us.”
OR: Shane and Ilya go to Paris to celebrate Hayden and Jackie’s vow renewals. When Ilya hears Shane give his speech, he starts to focus on the fact that they can’t have this. He can’t express his love for Shane in front of everyone the way everyone else can. Now Ilya has no idea what he’s supposed to do with this, and Shane’s starting to notice.
