“Stark, listen to me. Even since Project Insight failed, Hydra has been trying to recreate it. We don't know how far along they are, but we do know that they will get there. SHIELD is in shambles, the Avengers Initiative has gone to shit. There's nobody to stop them. Their hit list isn't changing, either. The Avengers, or former Avengers, are still at the top. And you? You're the easiest to find.”

Tony rolled his eyes. “Yeah, no shit. I can handle myself. Besides, what are you going to do? I wouldn't trust a single one of your agents, and I very much doubt you are going to stick around here yourself.”

Fury nodded. “True. I have things I need to do, as do you. You can't afford to be focusing on weeding out Hydra.” Tony didn't trust that agreeable tone. “But, I have someone who can.”

    There it was.

He pulled the folder onto his knee, and cracked it open. A picture was paperclipped to the front, and a name sat at the top in dark, neat letters.

"Jeez, you're morbid." When the kid just bared his teeth in what could be generously described as a grin, if one were to squint and generally have the vision quality of a mole, Jason turned back to the rapidly paling Tim. "You want to sweep the place for signs of Nightwing while I wrap things up with junior over here?"

"Junior," the kid scoffed, which was real fucking rich for someone who was an inch or two from being strictly categorized as fun-sized. "Fuck off."

"Hey, watch your mouth. Kids who don't know times tables aren't allowed to swear."

"I can multiply just fine, jackass."

"Hood," Tim cut in, voice squeaky like it'd been squeezed-compressed-squashed ten times over. "I don't need to keep looking for Dick. He's right there."

or, who would've thought that a de-aged Dick would be really angry, really annoying, and really attached to Jason?

(Bruce. Bruce would've thought. This might be his worst nightmare, actually.)

    Summary

Wally knows he can’t go on like this forever. His suit is soaked through with sweat. His hair is drenched and dripping into his eyes. His entire body trembles with fatigue, but he can’t afford to let himself fall. If he loses even a second, it’s all over. He’ll lose the world. He can’t just stop.

And fine, maybe it is insanity. Maybe he’s a fucking crazy person and he’s putting his best friend in the world through endless torment for no reason, but he doesn’t care. Wally will push off the inevitable for as long as he can. He’ll keep going until his body gives out. He’ll gladly lose his mind if that’s what it takes to keep Dick breathing one nanosecond longer.

And he will. It'll be different this time. He can still fix this.

(Wally is trapped in a tragic time loop of his own making)

    Summary

[Time passes oddly. Between one second and the next, Sokka has the Fire Lord pinned to the wall with his hands around the bastard’s throat. Golden eyes (one gold eye, his mind whispers) widen in shock.

“Sokka?” he chokes out. And then he smiles.

    What the fuck?

    “Sokka, I—”

Sokka slams his head against the wall, once, twice, and the smile wipes off his face. Good.

What,” Sokka bites out, “have you done to my sister?”]

    Or:

An injury leaves Sokka with amnesia. His last memory is of the failed invasion, of leaving his father behind in enemy territory on the Day of Black Sun. Of hopelessness. Rage.

But then he wakes up, and the war is over. Suddenly, he must come to terms with the fact that years have passed, and that he's somehow the Southern Water Tribe Ambassador to the Fire Nation. He is also supposedly friends with banished-Prince-turned-Fire-Lord Zuko, of all people. Close friends.

    Yeah, nah.

    Summary

Zoro's not exactly the first person anyone on the Straw Hat crew would turn to for comfort. In fact most times, he'd probably be the last. But every so often, all that awkward, oblivious, blunt force honesty of his is exactly what they need.

(Or, eight times Zoro was there for his crew, and one time someone was there for him.)
