Summary
Not nearly so angsty as the title suggests.
There were days when Alina enjoyed being Queen of all Ravka. Enjoyed the power she felt when men old enough to be her father, decorated with unearned medals for their nonexistent bravery, bowed and called her moya tsaritsa before doing whatever she commanded. It was a powerful feeling to be able to affect change with a snap of her fingers—with only her title and a command, Alina could literally change people’s lives. And she did.
But there were also days when the heaviness of her crown—of her title as Sol Koroleva—felt more like a weight dragging her to the bottom of the ocean rather than a sign of power. Alina has one such day, and her husband is to blame. Thankfully, Aleksander knows how to make it all better. -
