Their whole school rivalry had been pretty much ignored ever since that night in the Byers’ house, when the both of them had ended up unconscious. Billy was only mildly annoying now as opposed to the absolute pain in the ass he had been. Instead of going out of his way to knock Steve flat on his back at practice, Billy actually tended to avoid interacting with Steve at all. Max snapping and threatening her step-brother must’ve worked pretty well.
Steve heard the low rumble of a car pulling into the parking lot behind him as he shivered, realizing that he had been standing there debating whether to go in for almost 5 minutes. He decided definitively that no, it would be weirder to go inside and hang out around middle schoolers than just wait. He heard a car door slam shut, then-

Paddy Mayne embodies the most savage, wolfish parts of the SAS that Augustin had expected. Not only does he embody them, but his near manic ferocity excels in the freedom that the desert has granted him- a beast let loose in a domain fit for it. It has not pushed him as far as cruelty, per se, but there is a reckless “devil may care” attitude that makes the man take pot shots at idle hands. Or maybe that’s just always been a normal Wednesday afternoon for Paddy.
