Summary
Billy wondered how much time he had left before Ray changed his mind, before his disgust would outweigh his curiosity and he’d end the experiment. Ray mentioned he'd been deconstructing how he’d been raised, but Billy didn’t think Ray would ever feel the same way for Billy that Billy felt for him.
That’s fine, Billy had accepted it long ago. Now, he was just terrified he wouldn’t be able to get pregnant before Ray decided Billy just wasn’t worth it.
Three months after they agreed to try for a baby, Billy gets his period.

In-ho let the question sink in. He didn't know why he helped. He knew he didn't want this man to die because of his debt, as so many others had. He shouldn't have interjected, but he did. This man was probably going to die soon regardless of In-ho's efforts, so why help at all?

He only felt proud, strong, like he had managed to do something correctly for the first time in his life. Something in Steve's brain clicked and he realized where he was: in the woods, a deer carcass underneath him, its meat and blood in his stomach and all over his face. He looked up at Eddie, lip threatening to wobble, “How are you here? What just happened?”
Eddie knelt down and sat next to Steve, grabbing the boy into his arms as he stared at the dead deer, Eddie's own stomach beginning to grumble to his displeasure.
