Summary
The hunt was supposed to be simple — just another abandoned church, another restless spirit, another night Dean Winchester expected to survive beside the angel he loved. But when the creature waiting inside turns out to be something far worse, Castiel throws himself between Dean and death without hesitation.
By the time the fight is over, the church floor is drenched in blood, Castiel’s grace is fading, and Dean is forced to confront the terrifying possibility of losing the one person who taught him how to believe in something beyond survival.
In the middle of sirens, shaking hands, whispered prayers, and blood-soaked confessions, Dean learns that even angels can break — and Castiel learns just how fiercely he is loved.Bookmarked by lightweightmind

For a moment, the man just stares, his tongue briefly jutting out across his lips before going back into his mouth which stretches into a smile at Castiel, the corners pushing over his white teeth. In retrospect, Castiel was correct to fear the power of sight.
All he sees is hunger.
