Armin blinked slowly. Wait. So he’d been right…no, wrong. Because he’d reassured himself that that wasn’t and couldn’t be the case.
Jean dropped his spoon hand, deadpanning, “You mean the dungeon?”
“What? No—” Eren defended almost instinctively at hearing Jean’s voice, before his eyes shifted over to Mikasa, unsure. “I mean, I wouldn’t call it that. It’s not like the Captain chains me up anymore.”

Or, Armin realizes Eren still sleeps on a cot in the dungeon of what became the Scout Special Operations headquarters. He petitions to get the Savior of the Walls a real bed.

Summary
Eren understood what he was now faced with. He was looking right at destiny, at survival, at a chance of a real victory. Even when his mind was too much, even when the people doubted everything—it could be something. It could be victory. It didn’t matter if he needed to give every piece of himself to this cause, because they would at least win. Humanity would stand a fucking chance.

Summary
Five years ago, Armin had a dream that he’d see humanity free and feel the ocean waves beneath his feet with Eren, with Mikasa, no matter the cost.
Five months ago, he watched that dream get crushed in the jaws of a titan.
And in five hours from now, he’d be returning to the place it died.
The remains of the 104th Training Corps narrowly survive the Titan onslaught on Trost with the help of the Rogue TItan. Shortly thereafter, the city is declared a lost cause, and humanity is once again forced to retreat further into the safety of the walls. But the city was not the only thing lost: humanity lost its faith in the future, and Armin lost the person he cared for more than anyone else.
Little does he know that person is not only alive, but currently stuck within the body of the very thing he swore to destroy and in desperate need of his help.
Or: It takes the 104th a lot longer than anticipated to discover the identity of the Rogue Titan. This changes things.
