“No," Dabi said firmly, "I don't. I've had enough of people telling me what to do and how to live my life. If it’s not my decision, if it’s not something I chose for myself, I don’t want it.”
Hawks blinked. He couldn't very well argue with that. "That's fair," he relented. "What do you want, then?"

He and Hawks are running on borrowed time. Have been since the beginning. They always knew there was an expiration date on this thing between them, and their time is finally up. Dabi can feel the eventual end breathing down his neck, drawing closer every second of every day.
So he’ll do it. He has to. He’ll cut them both loose so they can do what needs to be done without any complications or distractions. In the end, this is all they can have, and it will have to be enough.
