“Even now? Ghost, how long was I out?”
“Eleven days. You lost a kidney. You almost lost your life.” Those eleven days may as well have been eleven lifetimes. “You almost crashed twice. Your heart’s in rough shape from the tissue swelling around it. How many times do you need to be told to follow your goddamn orders?”
Soap smiles weakly and opens his eyes a crack. The whites of them are very faintly yellowed, but his irises are as blue as ever. He gives Ghost’s hand as much of a squeeze as he can muster, which isn’t much given how out of it he still is. “I wouldn’t be half the man I am if I always followed orders.”
Ghost hates that Soap’s right.

Summary
Humans and Orcs have coexisted for millennia. They have *peacefully* coexisted for a few centuries. Back when the two species were enemies, orcs used to catch humans for pleasure purposes. They would throw parties for themselves and enjoy the host’s food and humans. None of those humans were voluntary participants.
Modern Orcs throw similar parties, in the same way American renaissance fairs are similar to the renaissance era in history: they are based on a historic time period/event, but it’s more for fun than about accuracy or education.
Ghost attends a party.
