Summary
When Flipside launches the first ever Battle of the Bands instead of the usual Phestival, Boombox sees it as a dream come true: a month dedicated entirely to music, a chance at ten million bux, and the opportunity to work alongside phighters he'd never normally meet.
However, as the event intensifies and expectations begin to increase, the pressure of keeping everyone moving forward slowly begins to outweigh the joy of music.
Before long, Boombox finds himself taking on more than he ever intended to and learns that holding a team together isn't the same thing as carrying it alone.

“I see… do you think anyone from the.. production staff could’ve been behind this?” Katana hums, hands trembling faintly in his lap.
That’s… unlike him. That’s not something he does when he’s calm. Or he’s hiding something. Is he hiding something?
Hyperlaser shakes his head. “Absolutely not, I haven’t told anyone about this. My spawnday, I mean. I doubt no one here would’ve heard it in passing, maybe you or Vinestaff, but it wouldn’t make sense for either of you to go so far to hide it.”
Katana chokes on his saliva.
OR.
Katana asks Slingshot to make some cupcakes for Hyperlaser's upcoming spawnday. The request is treated like a poorly concealed secret, people start asking for Hyper's secret admirer, and now there's no turning back from the bubbling feelings they've both been shelving for swords-knows how long.

After all, the world doesn’t care, so why should he care for a world who couldn’t even spare anything for him? Even when spotlights and cameras turn to him and he’s paid to, encouraged to engage and fight and survive, the world is apathetic. They don’t care.
They don’t care. The reminder floods into his head again. Anger rushes into his hand again, and he presses down on the dummy to push the heat out of his own head, and he inhales the sweat ridden air around him, and he hears—
