    “I… have been thinking of you.” The pitiful, not-nearly-enough words feel caught in his tightening throat — as if the unholy admission is being pulled from him via Hawke’s own blood magic.

    Maybe it is. (Except she’s not cruel. Not in that way. Not with him. Never with him. Even when he deserves it.)
