Another pain slammed into Shane so hard his vision whited out.
“…Shane Hollander.”
The room exploded with cheers and applause . People rising to their feet.
Shane barely heard any of it. His father hugged him first. Then Yuna. “Sweetheart,” she whispered against his ear, “you don’t look well. I don’t think you should be going up there alone..”
He couldn’t answer. He stood carefully. Ignoring the concerned look both of his parents threw his way.
The pressure between his hips was unbearable now. Every step toward the stage felt wrong. Painful. Wet. Why was it wet?
Or Shane goes into labor at the NHL awards with a son they didn’t even know existed.

“You wish you had someone who can show you?” Ilya catches on.
“Maybe,” Shane says, voice barely louder than a whisper. “It doesn't matter, though. It’s stupid. Let’s just sleep, okay?”
Ilya is quiet and Shane thinks the conversation has come to an end. That is, until Ilya speaks again. “I could do it.”
Shane’s heart stops. What the hell does that mean? “Do what?” he laughs, nervously.
“I could show you.”

Ilya practically melted into him, capturing his lips in a soft kiss. Shane reciprocated the kiss immediately, wanting to cherish the moment before they would have to leave the warmth and safety of their bed. They spent a few moments just kissing gently and stroking each other’s faces.
Their caresses were interrupted by another cramp that overcame Shane. He pulled away from the kiss and focused on breathing as he held his stomach.
“Shane, what is wrong?” Ilya asked, concern evident in his voice.
“I don’t know. It started this morning and got worse after lunch. It's probably nothing. Maybe I just ate something I couldn’t digest properly.” Shane responded as he relaxed in his boyfriend’s arms. “Come on now, we have to go.”

Shane experiences mysterious cramps all day. He ignores them until he is forced to face reality at the worst possible moment.
