Summary
Ah. Now he sees where this is going. Joe rocks his chair back on two legs. “I always thought this type of thing was an urban legend. Someone always knows someone’s cousin who had a friend who hired a date to piss off their family, but it’s always third or fourth hand or in some Instagram post.”
Nicky rolls his hands over his coffee cup, turning it in place. “I thought the same. But here we are.”

It’s new. It must be. If Nicky had seen this outfit before, he would remember.
(For the record, not only would he remember, he would probably still be recovering.)

Someone loved this place; they can feel it in the bones of the house. They'll love it too, and love each other under its eaves. Maybe whoever lives here next will feel Joe and Nicky’s love in the doorposts and lintels.

Summary
Briefly, Joe wonders how long it will take the stranger to face them. With shoulders that wide, is it like trying to turn a cruise ship? Sadly, no. In a disappointingly standard amount of time, the guy is looking their way, and---
Everything in the room grinds to a halt.

Summary
When they met, Yusuf was a merchant trading across Europa, and Nicolò a priest turned warrior paying off a debt of honor in the Norse lands. Yusuf fell in love with Nicolò slowly - spending a week together each year before he was compelled to travel onwards and leave Nicolò behind.
Nicolò fell in love almost as soon as they met.
Now they are each other’s, crossing Europa side by side. Ahead of them is a journey of a thousand miles, and a lesson that loving a person up close is very different to loving them from afar.

Summary
Onstage, the drums and guitars steamroll to a crashing crescendo, and Joe belts out a final note, bringing the song to a thunderous, impressive close. In the screaming aftermath, chest beading with sweat and heaving, Joe lets the mic fall from his mouth, grinning wildly, eyes alight, so beautiful and untouchable that Nicky’s stomach tightens.
“Oh, Andy,” he says, resigned to his fate.
She taps her bottle to his arm, just says, “You’re welcome.”

Sweet and sexy and tender and just settles into your heart like a happy little ball of warmth. An absolute curl-up-in-a-comfy-chair kind of fic.

Summary
‘How did you get in my flat?’ Joe squints at him. Now that the initial rush of terror has worn off, details start to make themselves known to him. Like the lack of a curly white beard on his intruder, and the tailored cut of his Santa costume. The suit Joe wore for his Santa’s Grotto gig was good, as Santa costumes go. This is something else. There’s true wealth in the fabric and embroidery of the suit the intruder is wearing.
‘I’m Father Christmas,’ says the intruder, like that explains everything, blinking at Joe with very large blue eyes.
Inspired by the tumblr post: "still very badly want a christmas romcom where the real santa falls in love with a mall santa"

Basically fills all the squares on the "what makes a holiday fic work well" bingo card, all while keeping Joe true to character.

“We only offer because we would like to hear about your family,” Nicky says, smiling softly. “If you want to tell us, we want to know them. Through you. And it is sometimes nice to have someone else who can remember things for you.” Nile smiles.
“Yeah,” she says, “yeah that would be nice.”

I just can’t say enough about this. The surgical efficiency of the language, the competence kink, the world-building, the tradecraft, and the absolute gorgeous emotion. Have reread a dozen times.
