    Summary

The mystery comes to its conclusion before the Verax Leo in Marmoreal Market. Phainon is not, unlike some of his colleagues, in the habit of damaging the city’s statuary. But if striking with Dawnmaker will satisfy his curiosity, he is willing to risk Aglaea’s displeasure.
“My lord,” Verax Leo finally grumbles. “It concerns Kremnoan royalty.”
Phainon’s expression sharpens. “...Has something happened to Mydeimos?”
“No, Lord Phainon. Nothing like that,” The lion hesitates. “It’s... the princess.”

Phainon comes to learn that Okhema is obsessed with a drag queen named "Princess of Castrum Kremnos," an extravagantly dressed performer who spends her weekends reducing audiences to laughter with a parody of the real Crown Prince. The crowd thinks it is the ultimate comedy act, happily joking that the princess and prince have never been seen in the same room.

There is no such parody. Okhema thinks it sees a brilliant satire. Phainon thinks a mysterious performer has stolen the privilege of making fun of his rival. And Mydei is just trying to make sure no one notices that the prince and the princess share the exact same biceps.

    Summary

Drunk with the proximity, from the thought, Phainon buries his nose into his skin, teeth sinking deep, deep, deeper still until he feels the first prick of blissful blessing before he’s wrenched away, an animal noise wresting from his breast, the warm pierce of fingers digging into his skin before there’s the whistle of air in his ears, the crunch of his body against a hard surface, head spinning from the vertigo.

Mydeimos throws him through a wall. It is, perhaps, in hindsight, not entirely out of nowhere Phainon comes to realize as the stars swirling above his head start to slow in pace but pinpointing what is for a different him to deal with later. Preferably a non-concussed version of himself.

At the moment he’s more focused on willing into existence someone, quite literally anyone, running off to get a healer from the Courtyard so he doesn’t pass out from blood loss with a concussion. That’s not a good thing to do, he's pretty sure. Hyacine had gotten rather huffy with him when he’d mentioned that sometimes despite any aches and pains he’d just…kind of sleep them off.

Sometimes, Phainon’s teasing has consequences. Totally worth it though.

    Summary

"Chiron only trains heroes." He repeats the same words from that day. "It’s not something you choose.”

    "And you are one?"

The question stung. Mydeimos’ jaw tightened. "It was foretold."

“Right. Foretold,” Phainon scoffed, as if it were a minor detail. “Well, no one’s foretold anything about me, so I guess I have to make my own way.”

One trained by fate, the other chasing it. The gods, of course, remain entertained.
Chiron watches them both, and wonders how many ways a heart could break.

Or; Ancient Greece—Mydeimos and Phainon grow up together in the forest, undergoing a decade of training to become heroes.

While Pantalone can’t deny that Dottore takes very good care of him, he is often an impenetrable wall when it comes to matters of affection. Still, there are moments when Pantalone gets the impression Dottore isn’t wholly opposed to a deeper friendship. Dottore interprets Pantalone's intentions as something else entirely.

    Summary

When the door opened, albeit having expected to see Alhaitham staring down at him, he still felt a part of him tug him away from the place. But, he stood there, swallowing his pride as the rain poured mercilessly over him.

Alhaitham didn’t say anything. He merely looked up at the rain and then back at Kaveh.

“I didn’t know where else to go,” Kaveh said.
