So much so that people won’t believe him when he shows them his— well, he doesn’t have baby pictures. He’ll have to make do with the one photo of him and Jamie at the arcade.

He has loads of magazines filled with pictures of guys he’d like to be. Tall, muscular, hair gelled up just right, all easy, confident smiles and cool clothes that aren't hand-me-downs and charity bin donations. They ride motorcycles and sports cars and have models draped around their arms like trophies and don’t have to click their brains off when they get too close to something that feels too scary to think about. Maybe if Reese had Malcolm's brain, it'd be different, and he'd just solve whatever is wrong with him like one of those equations with numbers and letters and weird symbols that Malcolm just breezes through. When Reese sees a problem like that in his homework, he rips the page out and burns it.
