Summary
When young Agent Marlowe, a former ViCAP consultant and full-time employee, is transferred to the Behavioral Analysis Unit, she arrives at a difficult time.
Unit Chief Aaron Hotchner is in the middle of a failing marriage, though he does his best to keep his personal life separate from his work. As Marlowe adjusts to the demands of the BAU and finds her place within the team, she and Hotchner gradually develop a professional relationship that becomes increasingly complicated over the years.
Set against cases, changing circumstances, and the lives they build both inside and outside the Bureau, their story follows what happens when two people become important to each other at a time when neither of them expected it.
