“Or do you not want to?” She said teasingly. A smile played at the corner of her lips to taunt him, a smile a bit more forced than she would like to admit. She felt it was a fair jab. How else are you supposed to feel when a man carries you to his bed only to send you away, and dodge any and all attempts at contact for weeks?
“No! I… it’s not that.” he sighed, “It’s logistics. The risk is just too great.”
“And I told you, I’m an apothecary–”
“It’s not just pregnancy. It’s my standing, it’s the impropriety. We can’t–”
“We already have.” She shot back. “And I mean what was beyond us making out.”

The silence between them stretched on for long enough that Maomao’s eyes flitted back up.
Jinshi’s eyes were wide and watery, his mouth parted.
He looked heartbroken.
I did that to him, Maomao thought in a moment of guilt.
He did it to you first! her heart yelled. He’s the one meeting other women—
“My intentions?” Jinshi whispered. “I… I apologize then. For not being clear.” He set his chopsticks down and folded his hands.
Maomao’s face burned. Her attempt at hiding her emotions had completely failed. “You don’t owe me an explanation,” she explained. “I’m merely a servant, after all—”
“How dare you.” Jinshi’s eyes were shiny with rage, a flush high on his cheekbones. His lip trembled.
Has he ever been this angry with me before? Maomao racked her brain and came up blank.
“How dare you speak about the woman I love in such a way.”

Summary

“Good evening,” Law said calmly. “I am looking for…” he looked down at the medical chart in his hands. “Monkey D. Luffy.”
The boy on the bed smiled immediately when he heard his name, a curious and excited look in his eyes.
“That’s me!” He shouted out. “Are you the doctor? They said that they were sending a doctor before dinner and I am really hungry, so if you are the doctor this means that I am gonna eat soon!”
The two men in the room groaned at that sentence and Law felt taken aback by the enthusiasm of the guy. He was either stupid or not aware of the gravity of his injury, if his only thought was dinner.
“Yes, I am the surgeon that will operate on you,” he answered. “My name is Trafalgar Law.”*
Law is a surgeon who needs some light in his life.
Then Luffy happens.
