“You’re kidding me,” Daniel said, holding the amulet Armand had given him between his thumb and forefinger. “Does this thing summon you?”

Of course Armand was there. He seemed to witness all of Daniel’s worst moments: the time he tripped face-first on the subway and Armand was sitting elegantly inside, the time he’d fallen asleep at a gas station, the time he’d walked into a lamppost in the street. He’d been laying on the floor by the foot of Daniel’s bed that time he’d rolled off his mattress in his sleep. Watching through the window when he accidentally put his fork in the microwave.

“No,” Armand said, and smiled playfully. “I was just watching.”

‘Just watching’ was a very nice way of saying ‘stalking you in a park’, but Armand was quite good at putting a spin on things.

Zoro’s not expecting to be summoned back to the palace while he's in the middle of his daily training, and he’s expecting even less to find not only his great uncle but also his grandmother waiting for him.

“Rhaenyra,” Alicent’s voice was a sharp hiss, though she kept it hushed so as not to wake the keep. “What... what are you doing here?”

The princess stepped lightly into the room, closing the door behind her. She moved with the ease of one who belonged, her bare feet making no sound on the stone. Rhaenyra was dressed in a simple nightgown, its pale silk clinging to her form, flowing as she walked. She made no effort to disguise her presence, nor to apologize for the intrusion. “I could not sleep,” she said simply. “I thought I might offer you some company.”

“Company?” Alicent repeated, the word foreign on her tongue as she stared at Rhaenyra. She felt exposed, scandalized, and her cheeks flushed with it. “You should not be here. It is improper.”

    Lo’ak’s eyes lift. “Promise?”

Jake lifts his pinky. “Pinky promise.”

Lo’ak’s smaller pinky wraps around it, serious as anything.

“See?” Jake says softly. “That’s another thing others can’t do—but we can. And pinky promises never break.”

    Lo’ak nods solemnly. “Ever?”

Jake squeezes his finger gently. “Ever.”

Jake Sully loves his son. He just doesn’t always understand him.

Told primarily through Jake’s POV before, during, and after The Way of Water, this fic explores Lo’ak’s childhood, rebellion, and the cost of silence, carrying its consequences forward into Fire and Ash, where love, guilt, and survival are anything but simple.

    Summary

In another universe, another time, things go just a bit differently, and Donquixote Rosinante lives, albeit seriously injured and bedridden.

But with his son refusing to speak until he gets news of the boy he'd left behind, Sengoku is forced to locate a child who turns out to be far more trouble than he was expecting before Rosinante's reticence gets him court-martialed, or worse. Hiding a precocious child with a legendary devil fruit is hard enough. Hiding one marked for death by World Government order is another thing entirely. Doing it at Marineford itself? That's just the height of folly. And yet, this is what Sengoku finds himself doing in order to keep the peace.

But there are eyes everywhere in Marineford, and not everyone can be put off by a protective Admiral. Politics are well and truly alive in the fortress, and someone is always looking for an angle to exploit. The clock is ticking, and one wrong move might mean the end of a career--or a life.
