Summary
“Buck, Theo calls for his mom because that’s what little kids do, but he knows you’ll come if he calls, evidenced by the fact he keeps doing it. Doesn’t he go back to sleep when he sees you’re there?” Buck nods. “See? He trusts you. You don’t need to keep yourself awake half the night watching bad tv shows.”
At that, Buck physically recoils. “Whoa, Tidying up with Marie Kondo isn’t bad tv! She’s a visionary! You’d know if you’d watched it like I told you to,” he grumbles.
“Buck–”
“Please, Eddie? I’ll help!”
“Jesus…” he shakes his head, taking a black marker from one of the plastic bins and writing DONATE on the freshly taped box.
“Yes!” Buck celebrates, rounding the couch toward the front door. “I’m gonna get the rest of the stuff from the car and then I’ll explain the system!”
And that is how Eddie now finds himself sitting on his bed listening to Buck explain the five steps of letting things go. Apparently at some point he’d have to thank whatever trash he decided to toss? Good grief.
Or: Buck decides to KonMari the Diaz house, Eddie digs up memories, and turns his life upside down in the process.

Summary
He’s not stupid. It took him some time — years — but Eddie’s half certain that, should his patience snap one day, should he lean in across the way one night when it’s just the two of them, should he palm at Buck’s jaw to bring his face closer and kiss him on the mouth, Buck would kiss him back. That’s not the problem.
The problem is that Eddie’s gonna ruin it.
He’s ruined every other romantic relationship in his life. If it happens with Buck, Eddie knows neither of them will come back from it.
These days, he’s content with having Buck the way he does now. He may succumb to weakness, sometimes, like he just did in the kitchen, holding Buck like that, but Eddie’s willpower is the stuff of legend. He’s happy with his place in Buck’s life. He can play the part of codependent best friend, dad who stepped up, platonic soulmate.
The main issue here, really, hindsight twenty-twenty and all, is that Eddie really misses being a husband.
or: five times eddie, willing and knowing, acts like buck's husband, and one time he. well. you can guess where this is going.

Summary
“I think the fact that you’re still making this about Eddie is all the answer you need about Tommy.” Bobby’s tone shifts to something sterner, more severe. “You’re being selfish, here, and from the sounds of it – you’ve done enough of that.”
It stings, and Buck knows it needs to sting. Because he deserves it. Because he is. Because he’s barely thought about Tommy and the fact that he cheated on him – that their entire relationship may have just been an excuse for Buck not to face that he’s in love with his best friend.
Even if he can’t have Eddie…
But that’s the thing, that’s what he can’t get past – why he can’t move, why he’s paralyzed in this spot, erupting and erupting, sending shrapnel into anything in his path. Because he can’t get past that – can’t get past if he can’t have Eddie.
Because if he can’t have Eddie, what’s the point?

His mom clears her throat, squinting her eyes at Eddie. “Whose is he? Do you—Do you have a new girlfriend?”
Theo giggles and looks up at her from below. “Eddie doesn’t have a girlfriend! That’s silly!”
Eddie nearly chokes. Silly… Yeah, maybe so. “Uh—No. No girlfriend.”
“Then whose is he, Eddie?” His dad asks.
And with the comedic timing of one of those corny 90s sitcoms, Buck chooses that exact moment to walk out of the kitchen.
Or: Eddie's parents make a surprise visit for Christopher's sixteenth birthday. What they didn't expect was finding a few surprises of their own.
Or: Eddie is convinced the universe hates him when his parents come to visit. With them already believing he and Buck are together, Eddie decides to roll with it.

Summary
Finally, Eddie spoke. His voice was barely audible. “You shouldn’t have shown me this.”
Buck shifted. “Why not?”
“Because it’s 2 am on a school night, and now I need to go wake my kid up to tell him how amazing he is and cry into his pajama shirt.”
He was already moving, rolling towards the edge of the bed, but Buck was quick to pull him back. They wrestled half-heartedly; but the effort was hardly real on his opponent’s part and eventually Buck prevailed. Eddie slumped back, going limp in his arms.
Buck only pulled him closer, pressing his lips to the warm skin of his torso. “He knows,” he whispered into his skin.
Or;
Buck and Eddie, still figuring out what they are, want to keep their brand new relationship under wraps. Their boys don't quite get the same memo.
